2007 International Convention

The 2007 Canadian and International General Conventions take place August 5-9 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Business Manager and Business Agents must attend these Conventions and must attend various sessions before and after. If you wish to speak with the Business Manager or a specific Business Agent, please call first to set up an appointment.

Contract Voting: Local 110 members approved the Memorandum of Agreement as mailed out. Thank you to the scrutinizing committee and to all members who took the time to respond to this important vote. There were only three spoiled ballots. Sixty-five percent voted for, and thirty-five percent voted against. There was a total of 614 ballots.

MEMBERSHIP MEETINGS

As per the motions passed unanimously at the June 9, 2007 General Membership Meeting, and as announced in the letter mailed to all Local 110 members:

There was a special called meeting scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 7, 2007, at the Union Hall (9335 - 47 Street, Edmonton) to address Apprentice issues. This meeting was for Apprentices only and dealt with Apprentice issues only;

There was a special called meeting scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, July 8, 2007, at the Union Hall (9335 - 47 Street, Edmonton) to vote to decide on whether or not to proceed with a pre-registration for each Journeyman member to sign, to get a Blackberry as negotiated with Telus. All members were welcome to attend this meeting. Members are reminded that Apprentices have voice but no vote. The result was in favour of the Blackberries. Members will receive further information as it becomes available. At this time, there are no registration forms ready for this program.

Applications for membership received after noon on Tuesday, June 5/07, will be held for review at the September meeting. If you are applying for membership and did not have all of your paperwork completed and into the Union Hall for the June meeting, you will have to wait until September to apply.

The meeting in Fort McMurray was held at the Quality Hotel & Conference Centre, 424 Gregoire Drive, on Monday, June 18, 2007.

The information meeting in Calgary was held downstairs at the Days Inn, 3828 Macleod Trail S on Wednesday, June 20, 2007.
