TRAINING
CSTSConstruction Safety Training System is a computer-based certification on basic knowledge of safety in the construction industry. Upon completing the certification, you receive the certificate which you are expected to keep with you at all times. You must present the certificate to obtain entry to jobs in Alberta. You may be asked to present the certificate at any time while at the job site. Failure to produce a current, valid CSTS certificate is grounds for dismissal. Please note: If you took CSTS before January 1, 2004, your certification has expired and you need to recertify before returning to work. If you took CSTS on or after January 1, 2004, you are no longer required to recertify every three years. Local 110 members can recertify for free by calling Paige at the Hall ((780) 426-2874, ext 233) to arrange for an appointment. Appointments are available for 9 A.M. and 1 P.M. for recertifications. If you miss your appointment, you will be assessed a $40 fine. Local 110 strives to notify members in advance of the expiration date of all current CSTS certifications. Failure to receive notice does not relieve you of the obligation to recertify. Non-members must call Paige at the Hall ((780) 426-2874, ext 233) and arrange for appointments and pre-payment of the non-refundable $40 fee. Payment can be made by money order (through the mail) or by cash or debit card (in person at the Hall). Appointments for first-time certifications are available for 9 A.M. If you miss your appointment, the $40 fee is not refunded. TRAINING TRUST FUNDRon Milich is our Training Coordinator.
